The ATP (Adenosine Tri-Phosphate) is the 'storage' of energy for the cell. It is then transported to it's needed location via active transport, and is then broken down in a chemical reaction into ADP (Adenosine Di-Phosphate) and a Phosphate. This reaction releases the chemical energy stored in the ATP and gives the cell nutrients to do it's processes.
